- Bio
Michael Ushino (Mission Viejo, CA) started music when he was 5, learning piano from a family friend. He continued his musical studies on the piano and pipe organ with Dr. Rudi Inselman of Concordia University. With the pipe organ, Michael medaled in the California Regional Bach Festival many years in a row. Even though he spent many years singing in a local church choir, he did not take singing seriously until junior year of high school when he joined his school's chamber choir as a student accompanist. A year later, he was appointed as the bass section leader and also became president of the school's barbershop singing club. Michael is now a third year, double majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Business Economics. Being one of the founding members of the Circle of Fifths, he also serves as the president of Choral Organizations and is a member of Crossroads Campus Ministries' praise band. He also actively sings in UCI's Men in Blaque and UCI Chamber singers, under the direction of Professor Joseph Huszti. Michael trained for 12 years in Shotokan Karate and holds a first degree black belt.
